He’s a guy who would literally give you the shirt off his back – or the car from his driveway, as the case may be.
The Spiritual Cowboy crew was introduced to Vicente as the go-to guy in Acapulco. The description immediately conjured images of John Wayne asking him to locate a rare bottle of tequila or Rita Hayworth calling for a ride to the shops.
Lucky for the Spiritual Cowboy crew, Vicente offered to show them around.
Vicente drove the crew all over Acapulco that trip. He took them to see the clavadistas and the zocalo, showed them which beaches the locals go to, and told stories from the days when his city was a playground for celebrities and millionaires.
Vicente took the crew to his favorite restaurant where they enjoyed a feast fit for kings, and took them back to his house afterwards for a nightcap and to watch the waves crash on his little strip of heaven between the ocean and the bay.
By the end of their stay in Acapulco, Vicente had become a dear amigo and everyone was sad to say goodbye. The crew promised they would be back and Vicente would be their first call.
When the crew returned to Acapulco, they called their friend Vicente hoping he would take them around town again and show them more of his favorite spots. But Acapulco’s go-to guy was in demand and was too busy to meet up and drive them around as he had on their first visit.
So much for being friends.
The crew said they understood and were about to hang up when Vicente told them to wait. He said he had to go but they should swing by his house later and pick up his car – he’d leave the keys in the ignition for his amigos.
