Melaque
Sometimes, being the captain gets you a welcome party and a strong drink. And sometimes, being the captain means you’re the one navigating a 70 foot vessel through a space not much wider.

Knowing docking in the marina near Melaque would be a challenge, the captain had put together a plan. But, as the Spiritual Cowboy crew pulled in, they realized they’d have to deal with an unexpected – and much larger – challenge: a full-size replica of the Santa Maria, Christopher Columbus’s 117-foot long ship, sat docked in their fairway.

The captain and crew braced themselves. One crewmate stood on the bow shouting back to the captain as they narrowly avoided the Santa Maria’s massive booms.

They made it. Time for that drink.

For the next four days, the Spiritual Cowboy crew planned their departure maneuver by maneuver. When the day came, they were ready. But now they had a new obstacle to contend with: parked across from the Santa Maria, on the other side of their fairway, sat a 100-foot megayacht.

With only six feet between their sailboat, the Santa Maria, and the recently-arrived yacht, the captain and crew slowly, carefully made their way out – without damaging the 200 ton replica of one of the most famous ships in history, the luxury vessel docked across from it, or their own trusty steed.

Now that deserves a drink.
