If your timing can’t be perfect, may it at least lead to something interesting
The weather was just right for a day out on the water. The sun was warm and an ever-so-slight breeze kept the boat moving just enough.
Some friends had joined the Spiritual Cowboy crew for an afternoon sail and everyone was kicked back, soaking up rays and enjoying the calm water. They stayed out to watch the sun light up the sky as it dipped into the Pacific and then headed back in to dock before dark.
Just as the crew was making its way back to the marina, they got a call from the Port Captain. They would have to stay out a bit longer as a banana boat was making its way out of the channel.
The term “banana boat” might give the wrong impression. This was definitely not one of those water toys people straddle and hang onto as they’re tossed around behind a boat. Nor was it a little local cruiser delivering a few crates of produce. This banana boat was a massive cargo ship and the Captain was not interested in playing a game of chicken with it in the Puerto Madero channel. The crew had no choice but to wait.
Docking at a marina in the dark is no joke, even for the most skilled sailors. The crew hit a few bumps and kissed the ground a time or two, but they made it back to the marina, not too much worse for wear, but definitely in need of a drink. Banana daiquiri, anyone?
